BIPOC Affirming Therapy
Therapy for BIPOC folks in Chicago
Black people, Indigenous people, Latino/a/x/e people, Asian people, Pacific Islanders, Arab people, and multiracial people are fortunate enough to participate in culture and community in a way that can be enriching and fulfilling. The intersection of culture, race and ethnicity can play both a positive and negative role in the everyday lived experiences for folks that are Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC). As BIPOC folks we experience a unique level of oppression that directly impacts stress, ability to function and overall well-being. With this comes navigating unsafe environments that do not care or value us and traumatize us. It is important that BIPOC individuals work with an affirming therapist that fully understands the experiences of racial trauma and is willing to work with our needs and cultural nuances.
BIPOC affirming therapy is about honoring and validating the intersections that make up your personhood. We are dedicated to creating a safe space for us to work through silenced experiences and honor your emotions related to culture, race, and ethnicity. Together we can cultivate internal and external resources of safety in order to nourish your healing. You can also expect to be affirmed and supported in everyday life challenges in a way that honors the distinct needs and struggles of people in the BIPOC community.
