LGBTQ Affirming Therapy
Queer Centered Therapy in Chicago
Being a part of the LGBTQ community can be tremendously positive and rewarding. Living your truth can open the doors to possibilities of liberation, authenticity, and fellowship. At the same time, in our society today being a part of the LGBTQ community unfortunately brings with it unique sources of stress. Folks in the LGBTQ community are still victimized in many ways ranging from violence to homophobia/transphobia and stigma. As a result, there is often a lack of adequate support for folks within the community. This is particularly true when it comes to the healthcare system that has a history of stigmatizing LGBTQ folks. Therefore, it is important that the LGBTQ community has a space that feels respectful, safe, and validating.
LGBTQ affirming therapy is about honoring and validating your experiences and holding space to explore the nuances of your personhood. Together we will unpack internal and external obstacles of homophobia/transphobia in order to honor oneself. You can also expect to be affirmed and supported in everyday life challenges in a way that honors the distinct needs and struggles of the LGBTQ community.
